SEARCHING FOR A TRUE MALE STEDMAN
~FROM THE LENHAM, KENT LINE ~

As many of you are aware, I’ve been researching our Stedman family history since 1986.  Over the years I’ve managed to make contact with many distant cousins across the world.  These contacts have helped me to trace our branch of the Stedman family back to the mid-1500s in Lenham, Kent. It’s been a fascinating journey through letter writing, emails and trawling through parish registers, wills, and old records — made a lot easier by the internet and an abundance of online family history resources.

Recently, I’ve become involved with a group studying the Y-DNA of Stedman men from around the world. The idea is to see how different Stedman lines might connect far back in time — perhaps even before written records — and to trace their ancient routes and shared origins.

However, there’s a twist in our story.  Interested?
